Who Are We

Oromia Development Association – North America (ODA-NA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2018 with a mission to transform education in Oromia, Ethiopia. In collaboration with the Oromia Development Association (ODA), we focus on addressing critical resource gaps to enhance access to quality education across the region.

Since our founding, ODA-NA has made remarkable progress in empowering schools and students through strategic initiatives. To date, we have donated more than 165 laptops and 25 servers to schools across Oromia, fostering educational growth and technological innovation.

Our work is driven by a commitment to creating sustainable change. By leveraging technology and building strong community partnerships, we aim to shape a brighter, more equitable future for students in Oromia.

Our Mission

Our mission is to transform the education system in Oromia by:

  • Enhancing access to quality educational resources.

  • Promoting the use of technology in learning.

  • Empowering students with the skills and knowledge to thrive globally.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every student in Oromia has the resources and opportunities to succeed academically and reach their full potential, contributing to the growth and prosperity of their communities.

What We Do

We tackle critical challenges in Oromia’s education sector, including:

  • Severe shortages of textbooks and essential learning materials.

  • Limited access to technology in schools.

  • Gaps in teacher training and resource delivery.

  • Inadequate medical supplies, equipment, and facilities necessary for quality healthcare.

To address these issues, we implement targeted initiatives such as our Digital Library System, which equips schools with accessible digital resources available on smartphones and other devices. We also provide support and training for IT teachers, school leaders, and healthcare professionals, ensuring the sustainable integration of technology into classrooms and clinics.

By addressing both educational and healthcare needs, we adopt a holistic approach aimed at improving learning outcomes and fostering community well-being.
